ANTM Cycle 22 Finale, Winner Is... Nyle DiMarco !
VIDEO [CC] - Deaf News: Tyra Banks Names Nyle DiMarco the Final Winner of 'America’s Next Top Model'
LOS ANGELES -- Entertainment Tonight: The judges have deliberated, and America's next top model is… Nyle DiMarco!
The 26-year-old model becomes the second male winner of the series - following Keith Carlos, who won cycle 21 - and the only Deaf contestant to compete on the reality competition show. He’s also the final model to land on top after creator and host Tyra Banks announced the series’ cancellation midway through the cycle.
From the beginning of cycle 22, the judges - Banks, Kelly Cutrone, and J. Alexander -- and other contestants made a big deal about his hearing, but being Deaf didn’t seem to be a disadvantage. In fact, DiMarco said it helped him in the competition.
“The biggest advantage of me being Deaf is that my language requires me to move my body,” DiMarco told Entertainment Tonight in September, “so it's easy for me to show movement in my body and brings the best of me in photographs.”
DiMarco quickly became a fan favorite thanks to his washboard abs, piercing blue eyes and charming persona. But he also delivered fierce photos each week, winning two elimination challenges and only landing in the bottom two once.
While the competition itself may be over, DiMarco’s career is just beginning. The budding model told Entertainment Tonight that he hopes to become the next male supermodel and to create an equal space for men in the modeling world.
“America's Next Top Model changed my life because I am more aware of the modeling world and I have a great network now,” he said of the experience, adding: “I have even more fans than I did before.”

LAS VEGAS - On Friday's episode of America's Next Top Model, it was the contestants' first week in Las Vegas. For their challenge, they had to fiercely pose midair while simultaneously falling into a pool, working some Sin City-related prop, and show off the garment. (The standard for any of today's fashion icons.) And instead of the weekly photo shoot, the model hopefuls had to tooch and smize for a music video promoting show matriarch Tyra Banks's own line of cosmetics, Tyra Beauty.

The name of the song: "BOOTYful." Like beautiful. Because duh. And of course, Tyra herself would be in the music video along with the final seven, doing most of the lip-syncing. Design&Trend - Whitney Meyer was "psyched" to be part of "Scream Queens" despite her short stint on the show.
The 20-year-old newcomer played Tiffany, a.k.a. Deaf Taylor Swift, on the Fox comedy-horror series. But during a recent FaceTime session with Cosmopolitan, Meyer revealed that she actually auditioned for the role by singing one of Lorde's hit songs.

VIDEO [CC] - They may not be able to hear, but Deaf people still take great pleasure from music.
The Daily Beast - As Justin Jones entered a Rockaway-bound subway train on Tuesday night, there was an unusually vibrant scene: as a speaker blared the heavy beats to one of summer’s catchiest pop songs, a group of teens and young adults danced, laughed and sang--or rather, signed--their hearts out.
This enthusiastic group wasn’t disrupting the daily commutes of New York residents to raise money. The actors, who were mostly Deaf, were helping a young girl become comfortable with who she was.
A camera panned each of their faces. The director yelled, “Cut!”
Justin was standing on the platform of a once-abandoned station in Downtown Brooklyn that had been converted into the New York Transit Museum in 1976 while simultaneously offering a filming location for Hollywood blockbusters.
On Tuesday, the 1960s-era car served as the set for the Deaf Professional Arts Network’s (D-PAN) as a visit to the set of the Deaf Professional Arts Network’s latest music video shows.
The cast of Spring Awakening, which is returning to Broadway with the help of Deaf West Theater--who produce their shows in American Sign Language (ASL)-- translated the lyrics of Walk the Moon’s “Different Colors” for viewers who have lost the ability to hear.

Ukrainian Triumphs At Miss Deaf World 2015
VIDEO: Natalia Belan, 18, of Melitopol, Ukraine is the winner of the 2015 Miss Deaf World competition.
Kyiv Post - Natalia Belan is one special woman. It’s not just that the 18-year-old is a beauty, and the winner of a Miss World beauty contest held in Prague last month. It’s that she also happens to be Deaf.
The native of Melitopol in Zaporizhzhya Oblast won the Miss Deaf World competition in the Czech capital on July 19, fending off close competitors from Belarus and Vietnam. The competition this year was a special one as well – the jubilee 15th year of the event, which was first held in 2001.
“I had an excellent impression of the competition – everyone performed at the highest level,” Belan told the Kyiv Post.
This isn’t the first time the Ukrainian woman has been a winner: She studied at the Kamenka boarding school for Deaf children, which is famous at home and abroad for its dance group, which has won numerous competitions. Belan herself is a keen dancer, and is especially fond of oriental styles of dance.
On the way to her victory in Prague, Belan first won the Ukrainian Society of the Deaf UTOG’s regional beauty contest in Zaporizhzhya, and then went on to win the national competition Miss UTOG 2015. After that, she went on to represent Ukraine at the world and European finals of the competition, in which Ukraine has traditionally done well, Belan said.
In fact, Ukraine has pretty much dominated the event over the past 15 years, taking the top spot in the founding year 2001, then again in 2003, 2009, and now in 2015. Ukraine also came second in 2006, and took third in 2002, 2004, 2007, and 2012. Ukraine also won Miss Deaf Europe in 2012 – a competition that has been held since 2009.... Drive Thru Headless Prank Video
VIDEO [CC] - A magician-turned-prankster on YouTube has once again baffled drive-through employees, this time by dressing up in a headless costume.
Magician and prankster Rahat Hussein takes his original “Drive Thru Invisible Driver Pranks” to the next level by cruising up to fast food drive-thru windows as a headless car driver. The multiple unsuspecting employees working at the window get quite a fright and even some laughs.
Magic of Rahat posted a video this week that shows the trickster driving through fast-food restaurants with the headless costume on and terrifying workers when it looks like the car has driven itself.
This might be the best one yet. The video is presented by Penguin Magic and it's been viewed more than 3 million times.
